Being grateful keeps you humble, being humble keeps you motivated, being motivated keeps you successful, being successful keeps you grateful.
There are tons of people out there that claim to be self-made and for all intents and purposes, they’re right. They suffered through the hard times and put in the work necessary for their success. Not letting anyone or anything stand on their way to that success, they have every right to make those claims as truth. Many times, its hard to see just how much or how many people have helped you when you feel like that climb to the top was made by yourself. With any kind of success, there is always more to the picture. This is where it starts to get a little tricky to understand.
You see, even if you feel like you were all alone, someone had to buy in to you in some way. Someone had to take the chance on you or what you had to offer for you to capitalize on. It could be the person that took a chance when they hired you or the customers that gave your product a chance when they bought it. It’s important to understand this and despite having earned that chance, to be grateful for the opportunity they gave you to show them you actually deserve it.
Understanding that there is a reason to be grateful keeps us from thinking that we don’t need anyone and never did. Being humble is very important to the way anyone lives life. Knowing that someone is on your side is pretty proven to make you happier than thinking you’re on your own. It’s great to set goals and shoot for the stars but its hard to get where you’re going when you lose sight of where you came from and how you got there.
Not wanting to waste the chances you were given and the understanding where you came from keeps you motivated and moving forward. This a sure-fire recipe for success and with that success should come the true understanding of how you obtained it.
Maybe I have it all wrong but it makes perfect sense to me. What about you? Did you do it all by yourself or was there even one person out there that you’re grateful for giving you that chance? Maybe you’re in the middle of getting help right now and don’t even know it…
