Have you ever been out and about, stopped and took a moment to appreciate something, and what it’s about? I do this thing, where I walk around at random with my camera, and try to see what I can capture. Street photography is something I enjoy for the same reason someone does anything they enjoy. I look at a giant piece of art thrown up on a building, deconstruct the effort it took to make it, and really try to appreciate the skill and time needed to do something at that scale. The amount of paint, artistic eye and actual implementation of a project like that is crazy. Sometimes I sit and listen to someone drumming on buckets or singing karaoke at a bar. The way people express their creativity, is sometimes lost on the acquired skill, while the appreciation and understanding of how much work needed to get to that level is lost. Has access to the entire world at the palm of our hand desensitized us to the level of talent out there in the world? When’s the last time you took a moment to appreciate something? What about it did you appreciate? When’s the last time you took a moment to understand what people may appreciate about you?
