Having a tasty adult beverage at the local bar that is modeled after a speak easy, what a lot to take in and digest about our reality. Good drinks and a great atmosphere but not without deeper thought. Can you imagine a world without alcohol? What kind of taboos do you place on a drink or a drunk? Seems like every day life but if you substitute booze for any other mind altering drug, you’re suddenly thrust into a different outlook. Why is that? Can we, as a society, look at all drugs the same across the board? Why is it that alcohol gets a free pass when it’s not even close to as harmful in comparison to other drugs? What will be the speak easy of the future? What side of the war against drugs are you on and why? Do you feel that the option to do something is worse because it’s legal? There is no lack of supply for any of the drugs out there and there is no golden redemption if you’re caught and made to pay. Any adult should be able to make their own choices of what they decide to do, without the consequences and repercussions of legal backlash. No victim, no crime or something along those lines. How far does society and authority as a whole need to step on someone’s freedoms to destroy their lives and take away their freedoms in the guise of helping before we call it out? Let adults be adults. What do you think? Are we helping people by smacking a joint out of someones mouth and putting them in prison. Do adults need to be punished for a choice they make for themselves? Are we enforcing an unethical hypocrisy over substance use as we sip our cocktails like we’re better than everyone else? Speakeasies are bars now because we couldn’t fight the inevitable acceptance of alcohol so…what does the future hold for other drugs?
