The first week back into the gym with a serious goal and effort is always hell. Your strength is almost all but gone from when you stopped, the soreness is debilitating, you’re dog tired and are ravenously hungry. It’s almost enough to make you want to quit all over again. Making it the 2nd week is almost no better, except for the fact that you are already developing a mental and expectation and schedule built into your day for getting a workout in. Week three is far better but you’re still not fully committed and still pushing through what could be considered a chore. If you make it to a month, you’re probably sleeping better, feeling better and looking forward to getting to the gym to really put some work in. I think that at month 3, you’re able to see some results and people will start to comment on the change of your appearance. When you start to get positive feedback and see results, you wonder why you ever stopped in the first place. Why do we always do this to ourselves? When things are going well and you’re healthy and thriving, there should be no reason to pull away. Do we desensitize ourselves to the progress we’ve made and forget the journey we took to get there? Are we a glutton for that first month back? With all things, the discipline to continue pushing, to be the best version of ourselves is always a battle with the work and time associated with it. What do you think? Are you in shape right now? Do you force yourself to maintain a certain level of fitness? What pushes you do get the workouts in or prevents you from prioritizing it into your day?
