Looking back at some of the things I had the opportunity to do makes me smile but the injuries and beat down body make me wince. It’s easy to be a hard ass and just jump into a mission without any regard to future you. Jumping in and out of aircraft, loading on the kit and making things happen all come with a pretty hefty cost. Nobody ever considers the sore knees, trick elbow or bad back when you’re focused on the mission. Honestly, I would have probably completely disregarded any warnings if I had. This always makes me kind of try boxing up some of my injuries. Am I just understandably battle tested with a body that has character or just overall beat down from years of not working smart? How much control do we have over the pains of getting older and how much is just a simple inescapable fact of life? Do you make sure to mitigate risks for your future health or just send it without a second thought? How are you feeling these days…Battle Tested? Beat Down? Both?
