Looking at any situation when you’re frustrated seems to amplify all the bad and completely drown out all the positive or promising things about what’s going on at the time. Why do we always focus on the negative when we hit any kind of hard times. Imagine how much better things would be if we decided to embrace all of the good of any situation and just address the negative enough to mitigate or negate it. What a difference it would make if we decided to solve a problem instead of harboring it. I was at a zoo and this kind of resonated with me a bit. All of these animals are in here against their will, stuck in an enclosure that is way smaller than anything they would normally see in the wild. Looking at them living their lives, it was pretty easy to see just how unfazed by that some of them seemed to be. The elephants are where this really seemed to hit me. They have the physical strength and raw power to do whatever they want and there is very little anyone can say about it but they don’t. Not sure if they are happier in captivity but you wouldn’t be able to tell if they weren’t. Standing there tall and in their man made habitat, they watch us watching them and just live their lives and embrace the zoo staff. Maybe this is different because when the elephants look at you, its like they know exactly whats going on around them. There is a certain amount of trust that they earn just from the gaze they give. They know what’s happening and are not at all frustrated with what’s going on. They know they are in an enclosure, eating what has been provided and not at all fighting what’s happening, even though they 100% could if they wanted to. What do you think? Are they accepting the good with the captivity? Do they know the situation they are in and are embracing the bad?
